Abstract

Storage process of meaning and content of a knowledge domain by using a relational database or in the form of structured documents has several diadvantage such as eliminating the semantic information, less supportive of the searching process knowledge from a variety of user perceptions also difficulty to develop the model as a result of the growth of knowledge. System Multimedia Nusantara University Library catalog stores information using relational database method. One effort to do is to approach ontology model. Ontology can be done using ontology Extract Rules from Relational Databases perfomed semi-automatically. The results of ontology is built to generate Ontology Web Language Schema in order to present the class, subclass, property slot constraints and property relations. Next step is to add instances in each class. Adding instances process by getting data from eXtensible Markup Language which is generated by using method of eXtensible Markup Language Database (XML DB) from oracle database. This requires the application generator Resource Description Framework / Web Ontology Language to help the engineering process by using the language of HTML, CSS, PHP, jQuery and documentation of W3C that generates OWL using the language of RDF / OWL. OWL files store the knowledge-based modeling ontology UMN library by storing information based on the number of datasets are as many as 874 DDC data row, data row Titles as 4916, as many as 5828 Author Data row. OWL file is validated to check the syntax of development in accordance with the W3C recommendation OWL and OWL Consistency.
