Abstract

Split screen adalah sebuah teknik pembagian layar yang umum dijumpai pada film dan tayangan televisi. Selama lebih dari seratus tahun sejak pertama kali digunakan dalam film, split screen telah mengalami sejumlah proses kreatif; diantaranya digunakan sebagai teknik storytelling, teknik pembuatan spesial efek dan media eksperimen. Meski begitu, proses kreatif yang diterapkan pada split screen dirasa belum dioptimalkan, terutama menyangkut media yang didayagunakan. Selama ini, split screen yang terdapat di film hanya menggabungkan dua atau lebih direct footages. Belum dijumpai split screen yang menggabungkan media lain. Dalam laporan ini, penulis membahas pendayagunaan split screen dalam sebuah filmi cerita pendek W: With & Without yang menggabungkan antara direct footage dan animasi 2D.
