Abstract

Snort is one of the Intrusion Detection System (IDS) software that has become the de facto standard for IDS. Snort is used to monitor and detect security incident from packets on the network. Snort is more effective if could send the information of security incident in real-time manner. In fact, Snort doesn’t have the push method. Push Technology can be used for sending messages in real-time manner because the message is initiated by sender. Nowadays, information can be received anywhere and anytime using a smartphone. This study was conducted to develop Android-based reporting application that co-works with Snort. When Snort detects an attack, the application is notified so the owner could respond the attack quickly. Experiments results show that the application is able to receive the notification pushed by Snort, having high data consistency of received data compare to sent data, and also producing small value of delay between the time of the incident occured to the time notification received which is 1 second.
