Abstract

o ensure the reliability of communication process, an appropriate RF technology is required in implementing Industrial Wireless Sensor Networks (IWSN). IWSN uses antenna to transmit information through radio wave. One of the most used antennas in IWSN is half-wave dipole antenna. To understand the characteristics of radio wave propagation in IWSN, this paper aims to perform comparative analysis of dipole antenna configuration in IWSN application. The proposed method was to simulate several configurations of half-wave dipole antenna 2.4 GHz in 3D model of an industrial site. The characteristic from each configuration was analyzed and compared from its gain, far field, S-parameter, and directivity. The results show that each configuration results in different value of gain, far field, S-parameter, and directivity.
