Abstract

Smart storage container is a device that measures its content’s volume percentage and sends it to server so the information can be accessed with internet connection using mobile device. Communication happens from smart storage container to gateway computer then to server and also between smart storage containers or with other device. Smart storage container is compatible with Bluetooth and Zigbee to communicate locally with gateway computer. Gateway computer that is connected to internet sends the data to server using XML-RPC. Server saves the information to cloud database. Communication between gateway computer and server is also equipped with authentication and HTTPS for security. Local communication protocol is designed in application level to reduce data loss because of receiver buffer limit. Wireshark was used for data sending observation.
