Abstract

Universitas Multimedia Nusantara Dormitory is a lodging facility provided by Universitas Multimedia Nusantara mainly is located at Jalan Pondok Hijau Golf Raya, Cihuni, Kecamatan Kelapa Dua is the company where the writer chooses to conduct the Industrial Placement Program at. The main purpose of the Industrial Placement Program is for the writer to learn the activities of a housekeeper in the Housekeeping Department of UMN Dormitory, to improve the skills regarding housekeeping operational works, as well as to learn more about what housekeeping is in general. The Industrial Placement Program was conducted for approximately 4 (four) months starting from 7 July 2020 until 23 October 2020. As a housekeeper at UMN Dormitory, one’s job would primarily consist of maintaining the cleanliness of public area and the cleanliness of the dormitory rooms, while at the same time following the given Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) by the higher – ups. The writer would also be given a chance to be a team leader who then will be responsible of creating a shift – schedule for the trainees. While conducting the Industrial Placement Program, the writer would found various problems. The main one being not given the proper knowledge or instructions regarding the usage of a certain chemical which may be caused by the lack of information, and the other being not given a proper instructions how a certain job given. When handling the mentioned chemical, the writer would avoid directly touching the chemical even after dilution to avoid damages. The writer would also conduct a research regarding the mentioned chemical as well as its usages. The writer would also be grateful for the Industrial Placement Program has given various experiences and knowledge regarding the Housekeeping Department which will be very useful as a reference for future dates.
