Abstract

Financial Risk Tolerance is one of the most important factors in determining the perfect financial plan for each individual, as it directly affects how far and how much risk they are willing to take in order to maximize their returns. Considering the recent increase in financial literacy, financial inclusion, and the number of investors in Indonesia, the author believes that it is necessary to try and get a better understanding of what factors influence an individual’s Financial Risk Tolerance level. This thesis using Structural Equation Modeling will study the effects of Propensity for Regret, Propensity for Overconfidence, Income Level, and Stock Ownership on Financial Risk Tolerance. This research will use primary data collected from 112 respondents using a questionnaire, with sampling criteria of unmarried adult male or female with a job, living in the Greater Jakarta Area, and having previously invested in stocks. The research findings suggest that Propensity for Regret, Income Level, and Stock Ownership all have a significant positive effect on Financial Risk Tolerance, while Propensity for Overconfidence does not.
