Abstract

Kebebasan Pers merupakan salah satu bentuk hak asasi manusia dan juga bentuk kemerdekaan. Namun, dalam praktiknya tidak jarang kebebasan pers yang ideal belum terjadi. Terlebih disalah satu daerah di Indonesia yakni Papua. Dalam beberapa kesempatan diketahui bahwa terdapat upaya organisasi profesi jurnalis dalam mendukung kebebasan pers terutama di Papua. Penelitian ini berfokus pada upaya yang dilakukan dua organisasi profesi yakni Aliansi Jurnalis Independen (AJI) dan Persatuan Wartawan Indonesia (PWI) untuk mendorong kebebasan pers di Papua. Hasil penelitian ini menemukan bahwa terdapat beberapa upaya yang kemudian digolongkan menjadi usaha preventif dan kuratif. Beberapa upaya tersebut antara lain dialog dengan instansi terkait hingga pelatihan jurnalis.
