Abstract

With the current kWh meter technology installed by PLN (National Electricity Power Company),home users are supplied with electricity consumption information only within a single month. It is difficult for users to observe the change in electricity consumption for further monitoring and planning. In this study, we proposed a tool that can calculate the amount of electricity consumed by home appliances users and send the data in real time and online to the server. This way, users can see the usage of electrical energy periodically. Sensors like current transformator and power transformatorwere used for this, and the3G module was utilized for data communication. Arduino was used as themain controller of the smart power meter. As a result, we obtained accuracy of current readings was in therange from 88.33% to 99.29%, and accuracy of the voltage readings was in therange from 99.02% to 99.96% compared to standard measurement tools. The result indicated the possibility of using the smart power meter for wider users
