Abstract

Sebagai penyalur pesan serta media interpretasi, konsep visual berfungsi untuk menguatkan mood dan cerita pada sebuah film. Namun, tidak semua konsep visual dapat diciptakan secara langsung dalam kehidupan nyata dikarenakan keterbatasan lokasi atau set. Visual effects (VFX) berperan untuk merealisasikan konsep visual pada set yang bersangkutan. Peran VFX tentu tidak selalu terfokus pada konsep visual. Melalui digital compositing dan matte painting, lokasi dapat dimodifikasi atau dimanipulasi sehingga turut berperan untuk mewujudkan set yang memenuhi kriteria mise en scene agar sesuai dengan kebutuhan cerita.
