Abstract
Latar belakang penelitian ini adalah Indonesia masih belum ramah terhadap keberadaan kaum homoseksualitas. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui bagaimana strategi impression management yang dilakukan pasangan homoseksual dalam proses coming out di media sosial. Konsep yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah strategi impression management. Metode penelitian yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode studi kasus dari Robert K. Yin dengan paradigma post-positivis, kemudian teknik pengumpulan data dengan purposive sampling didapatkan 2 pasangan gay dan 1 pasangan lesbian. Peneliti melakukan wawancara mendalam. Hasil temuan penelitian menunjukkan pasangan homoseksual yang memiliki proses coming out diawali dengan telling friends and relatives, kemudian publicity acknowledging that one is lesbian or gay, menggunakan strategi impression management yaitu affinity-seeking and politeness strategies : to be liked, credibility strategies : to be believed dan image-confirming strategies : to confirm self-image. Sedangkan pasangan homoseksual memiliki proses coming out diawali dengan meeting and getting to know other lesbian and gay people dan telling friends and relatives (hanya teman terdekat di media sosial), cenderung memiliki strategi impression management yaitu credibility strategies : to be believed dan image- confirming strategies : to confirm self-image.
