Abstract

Kementerian Komunikasi dan Informatika (KOMINFO) mencatat temuan informasi palsu Covid-19 di media sosial berjumlah 1.819 konten, dengan jumlah unggahan penyebaran didominasi oleh Facebook mencapai 3.523 posts. Penyebaran informasi palsu Covid-19 ini tidak hanya berupa narasi teks, melainkan ada tambahan visual (gambar atau video) yang ikut digabungkan dalam unggahan konten tersebut. Untuk mencegah penyebaran disinformasi Covid-19 lebih luas, maka dibutuhkanlah prosedur visual fact-checking oleh media atau lembaga pemeriksaan fakta lainnya. Penelitian ini mencoba untuk mengkaji visual fact- checking media Kompas.com dalam pemberantasan disinformasi Covid-19, dengan tujuan untuk mengetahui praktik dan teknik visual fact-checking yang dilakukan oleh media Kompas.com. Jenis penelitian ini adalah kualitatif deskriptif dengan menggunakan metode studi kasus. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa Kompas.com memiliki proses gatekeeping dalam memilih klasifikasi isu/klaim pandemi covid-19 yang akan diverifikasi, seperti apakah mis/disinformasi tersebut memiliki dampak terhadap masyarakat dan apakah klaim tersebut menyesatkan maka diperlukan untuk pemeriksaan fakta visual. Dalam menjalankan praktik visual fact-checking Kompas.com memiliki beberapa tahapan seperti memantau sebaran disinformasi Covid-19, menentukan klaim, menentukan teknik verifikasi, menyusun artikel fact-checking, penayangan artikel, dan distribusi artikel. Kompas.com menggunakan beberapa teknik verifikasi yang tersedia secara online untuk memverifikasi atau mengidentifikasi atas gambar dan video dalam disinformasi Covid-19. Namun peneliti menemukan bahwa para fact checker mengalami hambatan atau tantangan saat melakukan visual fact-checking di Indonesia, yakni kekurangan data dan teknologi manipulasi visual yang membuat fact checker harus berhati-hati ketika mengidentifikasi.
